The Tribeca Film Institute chose me as one of the 10 finalists for their newest initiative, the Heineken Affinity Award. With the public’s help, one out of the ten filmmakers will receive a $20,000 cash reward to be presented during a special event at the Tribeca Film Festival this year. Each finalist will be able to use the following web platform to further promote their film.

Queer Conversations on Culture and the Arts (QCCA) presents a screening of the late Marlon Riggs’ final film, Black Is Black Ain’t (1995), followed by a panel discussion with producers, editors, mentors, artists, and friends involved with Marlon Riggs, including Jeanne Finley, Blackberri, Pat Turner, Nicole Atkinson Roach, and others!

The panel, moderated by filmmaker and CCA faculty member Cheryl Dunye, discusses the importance of Riggs’s work and its relevance today for artists and activists who continue to struggle with issues of race and homophobia.

Organized by Cheryl Dunye and Rudy Lemcke, board members of the Queer Cultural Center.

On March 27, 2008 QBC Film Series presented the 3rd Annual Fades of Black Women Film Showcase. This year we paid tribute to the life and film works by Cheryl Dunye with a screening of HBO’s Stranger Inside featuring Yolonda Ross. Dunye directed and co-wrote the film in 2001.
